Chittagong Division is geographically the largest division of Bangladesh. It covers the area of south-easternmost of the country, having a total area of 33,771.18 km2 .

Chittagong Division is the host of Cox's Bazaar, where the world's largest natural beach and St. Martin's Island, Bangladesh's only coral reef.

Chittagong division is divided into eleven districts and 99 Upazilas. The first six districts listed below covers the north-western portion (37.6%), on the other hand, the remaining five comprise the south-eastern portion (62.4%), the two portions are separated by the lower stretch of the Feni River; the upland districts of Khagrachhari, Rangamati and Bandarban altogether comprise that area formerly known as the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Before 1995, the 6 districts of Sylhet Division were also a part of Chittagong Division.

  1. Bandarban was established in the year 1981 and area was about 4,479.01 sq.km

  2. Brahmanbaria was established in the 1984 year and area was about 1,881.20 sq.km

  3. Chandpur was established in the year 1984 and area was about 1,645.32 sq.km

  4. Chittagong was established in the year 1666 and area was about 5,282.92 sq.km

  5. Comilla was established in the year 1790 and area was about 3,146.30 sq.km

  6. Cox’s Bazar was established in 1984 year and area was about 2,491.85 sq.km

  7. Feni was established in 1 the year 984 and area was about 36 sq.km

  8. Khagrachhari was established in the year 1984 and area was about 2,749.16 sq.km

  9. Lakshmipur was established in the year 1984 and area was about 1,440.39 sq.km

  10. Noakhali was established in the year 1821 and area was about 3,685.87 sq.km

  11. Rangamati was established in the year 1860 and area was about 6,116.11 sq.km


Total area of Chittagong division is about 33115.02 sq.km
